I'm getting the itch to get back into mud racing. I have a project, that I don't get around enough to work on it. I don't have the knowledge to fabricate the s*** I'm gonna need.

I'm also getting the itch to see Mudallica running again.


The project: Allantown Fire Truck

1974 Pontiac Ventura on a K5 Blazer frame. I'm actually thinking of going 454 instead of just a 350 for it.

What I need help with is getting the body mounted onto the frame. How does a couple cases of beer and a few pizzas over some of your free weekends sound? And I'll also help you get Mudallica running again.

You are asking for time from a guy who does not have the time to get his own sh*&@$*^$@% done!

I would do this- get all the un-needed cr-iz-ap out from under the Ventura. Then strip your frame down... might be a good idea though to have a motor and tranny in it though even if they are non-runners just for fitting reasons.

Get your self several 2x6 boards. Keep 2-4 of them about a foot wider than the frame rails. them cut yourself a bunch of them about 8 inches long. You will use these for spacers to figure out where the body mounts need to go.

Set your body on your frame and build up your blocks until the body is suspended by only blocks and not by motor, tranny, etc. Then start figuring out what needs to be cut and where in order to get your body as close to the frame as you want it.

If you want your body really high and stupid like mine use it as an example for body mounts. But in my opinion, you would be better off looking at Matty's VW Rabbit and follow his lead. He did a way better job than I did. Also, take a couple notes and look at Greg's TRAR project in Ione that has been sitting for 300 years. He started doing some cool work cutting channels out of his so he could get that body hugging the frame. He never finished, but you can see that he was on a good track for building something cool.

So take notes from these three rigs that you can get easy access to... put your body on your frame, and use ideas you find from mine, Matty's and Gregs rigs to figure out how to build your own. Personally, I would suggest you try to copy Matty's work more than mine or Greg's... but that is only an opinion!

Once you get that body on a frame and if you need idea at that point, give me a call!

Thanks for the tips. The thing is, I can't weld, and I'm trying to get into the program at SCC to learn and get certified. And I have the itch so bad, I can't wait another year.


Lest you remind me, I've sent him a message. I'm gonna throw the old carrier back in the housing and the axles, just so it's have something to roll around on. I might be bringing it back to Spokane after I move to this new place. But, I'm not seeing the all caps. BTW, there's two of them, just the Scout is a hassle with no rear end in it.

Give me a few to see if I can get my property cleaned up some. I have been hauling crap out of here as fast as I can to clean it up...didn't realize I had accumulated so much crap though!
Once I got enough crap gone maybe midsummer we can roll your junk down here and try to get it assembled. I know you have the car.... do you have a 4x4 chassis with a running motor, tranny and t-case?

Allan has a frame set aside and we have a motor lying on a tire.

Sorry about the poor wording on that last post Buddy! BTW I am told I am losing horsepower by running cast iron exhaust manifolds by creating too much back pressure. Would you please give me headers so I can relieve some pent up pressure?

No axles as of yet. This is kind of going to be an "Allantown" throw parts together rig. So there are probably axles, just don't have any pinpointed.

I really wanted to do a "Junkyard Wars" weekend one of these days... but now that most everything has to go, looks like that may not be possible.

The 1/2 ton axles I have laying around with no usage are 3.42 gears. Can be used for now for it.

3.42's is what were in the Blazer Allan sold to Steve and it ran real good with 35 inch tires at Big Al's. He didn't win because of one flat tire and one time at the starting line popping into neutral... but he would have win had he not had the bad luck!

Instead, take the time to develop a single, clear tagline — eight words or less–they conveys the essence of your organization’s value. I don’t know the meaning of your organizational name, but if the name doesn’t say what you do, the tagline should include some description.

It is NOT important that your tagline mirrors the words in your mission statement (which is internally oriented). What you can do to convey those ideas is to integrate the language and concepts into your positioning statement — the one to three sentences you use to convey your organization’s focus, impact and unique value to the communities you serve.
